Making of Lego Pirates of the Caribbean Queen Annes Revenge 4195

Following on from the Making of Lego Pirates of the Caribbean The Black Pearl 4184 next up is the Lego Set Queen Anne’s Revenge 4195. Queen Anne’s Revenge was the name of English pirate Blackbeard’s flagship, used by him for less than a year and featured in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

It took 4.5 hours to complete the 1097 piece Lego set, however again it was much easier than the older Lego sets we have tried to make due to Lego changing the build method.

In previous large Lego sets the pieces were randomly put into bags and your were advised to clear the table and stack the pieces by colour, this of course took quite a while, to the annoyance of eagerly waiting Lego builders.

However with this set the pieces were in order and you were told not to open bag 2 until you had completed the the instructions which are very easy to follow. Each bag held about 125 pieces so they were quite manageable.

The one slightly annoying thing when we did the Black Pearl Lego set was that there was one minifigure in each of the six bags so you couldn’t build them all first as in previous Lego Sets. Luckily in this set, all the minifigures were in Bag 1.

As you build the ship you immediately notice how much more detail there is than on the Black Pearl featuring large sails, lanterns, fire elements and bone detailing. There are skeletons on the front and back of the ship. The ship is also longer and has a detachable captain’s quarters.

This Lego set includes 7 minifigures Blackbeard, Jack Sparrow, Angelica, Quartermaster, Cook and 2 pirates, however once again it does not have Captain Hector Barbossa.

The Queen Anne’s Revenge gets 5/5 as it looks amazing as a display piece and it is easy to play with no parts falling off. Slight annoyance is it only has 3 cannons but that can be forgiven.
