Established in 1934 by a Danish carpenter called Ole Kirk Christiansen, Lego is now a global brand, and one of the top children’s toys.
Lego is a universal toy for all ages starting with the larger Duplo colourful bricks which appeal to very young children, right through to the Technic Lego collection that appeals to ages 7 through to 16.
Since the launch of the first plastic bricks, Lego has released thousands of sets themed around a variety of topics, with many of them being limited edition. Lego has become hugely popular with their licensed themes including Star Wars, Batman, SpongeBob SquarePants, Harry Potter, Cars, Ninjago, and City.
Lego has a huge range of sets that include Atlantis, City, Castle, Pirates, Lego Trains, Racers, Vikings, and Bionicles, however the one that stands out the most is the Star Wars Lego.
Star Wars Lego was first released in 1999 with the first sets based on the original trilogy, however Lego have recently extended the license with Lucasfilm Ltd. so there will be quite a number of new releases.
For 2012 Lego will be releasing a range of Lego sets from new themes including Superheroes, Lord Of The Rings, Dino and Friends.
